Cookies & Browser Storage

Effective date: August 29, 2026

This Notice explains how the EastArkNet website uses browser storage, service workers, and optional browser notifications.

The current EastArkNet public site primarily uses first-party browser storage needed for scanner preferences, access, interface settings, install choices, and notifications. EastArkNet does not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site behavioral tracking, advertising pixels, or advertising identifiers.

1. Local Storage

EastArkNet uses browser local storage to remember information on the device you are using. Depending on the features you use, this can include:

  • the talkgroups selected for scanner listening;
  • appearance or theme preferences;
  • whether you asked EastArkNet not to show an install prompt again; and
  • web access information you entered for restricted content.

Local storage normally remains on the device until the website removes it, you change a related setting, or you clear the site's browser data.

2. Session Storage

EastArkNet may use browser session storage for temporary state that should last only for the current browser session, such as whether an install prompt was dismissed for that session or temporary compatibility state associated with web access.

Browsers normally remove session storage when the relevant browsing session ends.

3. Website and PWA Notifications

If you choose to enable browser notifications, EastArkNet uses the browser's Web Push and service-worker features.

A website notification registration may include a browser-generated push endpoint, cryptographic subscription keys, a random EastArkNet subscription identifier, and the notification topics you selected. This information is stored so EastArkNet can send the browser notifications you requested.

A website or PWA notification subscription is separate from an EastArkNet mobile-app notification registration. Removing one does not automatically remove the other.

You can disable browser notifications through EastArkNet's notification controls or your browser/site-permission controls.

4. Service Worker

EastArkNet registers a first-party service worker to support browser notification delivery and installable-web-app behavior. The service worker runs under the eastarknet.com site scope and is not a third-party advertising or tracking service.

Your browser provides controls for removing the service worker and other EastArkNet site data.

5. Cookies and Tracking

EastArkNet's public scanner does not use cookies or similar technologies for behavioral advertising, cross-site tracking, data-broker profiling, or advertising measurement.

EastArkNet also does not authorize third-party behavioral analytics on the public scanner. Aggregate first-party service statistics may be collected as described in the Privacy Policy, but those statistics are not used to create an individual listening history or advertising profile.

6. Clearing Browser Data

Your browser can generally clear EastArkNet's local storage, session storage, service-worker state, notification permission, and other site data.

Clearing site data may reset your selected talkgroups, theme, access state, install-prompt choices, or other browser preferences. Revoking notification permission or removing the browser subscription will stop browser notifications.

If you entered an access code on the website and no longer want it stored in that browser, clearing EastArkNet site data removes the locally stored copy.

7. Mobile App Storage Is Separate

The official EastArkNet mobile app uses app-local and protected device storage rather than browser storage for most of its settings and credentials. Clearing website data does not clear information stored by the mobile app, and deleting the app does not automatically remove a separate website notification subscription.

Mobile-app information is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Changes

EastArkNet may update this Notice if the website begins or stops using a material browser-storage, cookie, service-worker, notification, analytics, or embedded-content technology.

9. Contact

Questions about EastArkNet browser storage or website notifications may be submitted through EastArkNet Support.
