When NOT to Call 911

People call 911 for a number of reasons. Unfortunately, fires, medical emergencies, and incidents requiring law enforcement personnel happen all the time. The reason the 911 system was created was to connect people who need emergency help with their local emergency services.

The key thing to remember is that 911 is for emergencies. That fact seems to be lost on an incredible number of people.

What was the ambulance supposed to do? It sounds like both the dispatcher at the St. Francis County PSAP and the EMSA dispatcher were so confused by this call, neither of them could figure out how to dispatch it.

I’ll admit I don’t know all the circumstances here but is this really a job for the Wynne Police Department? It just seems like after 30 years, you’d have come up with a better plan.
