Colt Fire Department
I don’t have much information about this agency. Colt is a small community and, thankfully, their fire department doesn’t see much action. I assume their calls ring at the St. Francis County PSAP. I have heard radio traffic on this system but I haven’t heard a call dispatched, I’ve only ever heard in-progress traffic.
All radio traffic is plain English only. There isn’t a whole lot of radio procedure used; it’s extremely informal.
As with most fire departments, callsigns are usually determined by the actual piece of equipment (such as “Engine 1” or “Rescue 2”).
The Colt Fire Department is dispatching on their own single-channel, analog, VHF duplex repeater system, operating under FCC callsign WPYJ464. The antenna is 88 feet above the ground on a tank in Colt.
